PAUL DE SOUZA WINS BAHAMAS LASER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME

This year's Bahamas Laser National Championship was sailed in Montagu Bay (May 24 & 25). Winds were light and surprisingly steady out of the east which made for very fair and competitive sailing. Eight sailors competed of which seven were junior sailors. All were from BNSS in Nassau. It was the first year in many that no one from the islands participated. The sailors especially from Freeport were missed as they always fielded a strong team.

Paul de Souza continued to show his dominance in the Laser Class as he won five out of the six races. Alande Forbes, his old sparing partner who has recently rejoined the BNSS Laser Team took second and Nathaniel Burnside, who over the last year has improved tremendously took third place. Congratulations to all who competed and a big thank you for Fernando De Cardenas and Lori Lowe for running the races and Nassau Yacht Club for hosting the event.
